Scottsbluff Fire
Department Vintage Fires and Equipment
First up from the City of Scottsbluff is
a picture that was taken in 1917 of the first piece of fire equipment
that the city owned. This one is of the Very first Engine 1.
The second picture is of two of the
original Engines from the City of
Scottsbluff Fire Department. The picture was taken in the 1920's and I
don't know the exact date of the picture. The building behind the two
rigs is the orginal Fire and Police Station. The building still stands
and is now a shop. The next picture is of the Egyptian
Theatre Fire in the 1940's. The
Egyptian Theatre was the premier theatre to go to back in those days
and was big news and a big lose for the city when it was destroyed by
fire. I am sorry about the quality of the picture but when I scanned it
into my computer it came out somewhat dark on me. This picture
appeared in the Scottsbluff Star-Herald. The picture hangs on the wall
at the departments training facility. The picture below is one of the former
Engine 1's, this one was a 1963
Mack and the picture was taken outside of the current Station 1.
Lincoln Fire
and Rescue
The City of Lincoln Fire
and Rescue have
a long and proud history with the department having many rigs over the
years. Inside of Station 1 there is a Museum filled with nothing but
the history of the department. I have one picture that is from the
Lincoln Fire and Rescue Department that shows a 1911 American LaFrance
Chemical and Hose wagon, plus I have a few pictures from the Fire
Museum and they are posted here. As I add more to my collection from
the Museum I will add them here.
The picture below came to
me from a member of the Society for the Preservation &
Appreciation of Antique Motor Fire Apparatus in America . He
found the picture on Ebay so I don't know who the original photographer
was. But the rig below is a 1911 American LaFrance Chemical and Hose
Truck, type 10, seriel number 64. Steve Hagy donated the picture to the
site and he is very much a man who knows his rigs and their history.
The pictures shown above are from the
Lincoln Fire and Rescue Museum
located at Station 1. the main feature of the Museum is a 1911 American
LaFrance Pumper that was the departments first motorized fire truck. As
I add more pictures of the museum to my collection I will add them to
this page. City of St.
Louis Fire Department
Here are a few
pictures that I have found on Ebay of the City of St. Louis Fire
Departmnet. I grew up in St. Louis in the South County area of the city
and was known to be all over the city.
Where
my grandparents lived they were just a couple blocks from Station 2 and
I use to walk up to the fire house all the time an look at the rig. So
here is my collection of fire pictures from the City of St. Louis.
I
just recieved
this picture in the mail about a week ago. It is of a 7 Alarm fire in
Brooklyn, New York . I am not sure what the year is that the picture
was taken. I will do some research and post that information on this
site.
