Line of Duty Deaths.

It is part of each firefighter’s life, knowing that when we pull on the coat and boots and the helmet that we may end up answering our last alarm. But over 1 million Firefighters in the United States last year and this still did their job, whether it be career or volunteer they all faced this and still jumped when the need arise to do what they are trained to do.

The City of Lincoln Fire and Rescue can trace it's roots back to 1872 when the first fire company came together. At that time they were 50 strong  with 1 Steamer, 2 Hose Carts and enough gear to outfit a bucket brigade. Today the department has 14 front-line Engine companies, 4 truck companies, 5 Medic Units, and several other specialty units. The specialty units include HazMat, Decon Trailers, Water Rescue, USAR Unit and Members, Mobile Air Unit, Technical Rescue Unit. Plus the department has numerous spare units spread through out the City.

Due to the large number of pieces of equipment this section will be broken down into sections and sub pages. This was the only way that I could show everything without some really long pages. So please click on the buttons below that corresponds with the type of equipment that you wish to view.

This page is dedicated to the Men and Women of the Lincoln Fire and Rescue Department that put their lives on the line everyday to protect all of us. Please take a couple minutes to watch the flash presentation below. It is dedicated to these men and women. Lincoln, Nebraska's Bravest.
